Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Caritas Financial & President of VALOR Retreat
Larry served in the United States Army as a Second Lieutenant. Larry wants to help out his country and fellow veterans by creating a peaceful retreat, where combat veterans and Gold Star families can relax and enjoy the outdoors. He is the President of our non-profit organization and his vision of helping our nation’s defenders has drawn others to help with this calling.
Vice President of Valor Retreat
Barbara serves as the Vice President – International Sales/Operations of Sheoga Hardwood Flooring, a $20 million dollar quality hardwood flooring manufacturing facility in Ohio. She also volunteers with the Gary Sinise Foundation (GSF) to bring national associations into the fold of sponsors to assist in monetary and product donations to help GSF’s R.I.S.E program. This program builds specially-adapted Smart homes for our most critically-wounded combat veterans. Barbara serves as a Director for the National Wood Flooring Association and a director on the NWFA’s Education/Research Foundation. She is the first recipient of the NWFA’s Women in Industry Award in 2019, honoring her efforts to help our nation’s first responders and defenders. She also volunteers her time as a Director and the Vice President for the Geauga County Credit Union and serves with the UH Hospital’s Leadership Council.
Board Member & Recording Secretary of VALOR Retreat
Jean served her country in the U.S. Army as a Spec5. She now continues as a board member of Valor Retreat.

–Arnold Killian served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves for more than 40 years. He continues to serve his brothers and sisters in arms as a board member of Valor Retreat.
Corporal, Marine Corps (Ret.) & VALOR Board Member
Charlie Brown served his country in the U.S. Marines. He is now a board member of Valor Retreat.
Major - Marine Corps., Paralympic Athlete & Archery Coach
Eric Burkett grew up in the military life. At 22, he enlisted in the Army Reserve. He took classes in college and trained in many different military specialties, eventually earning the rank of Sergeant. Six years later he earned a commission in the Marine Corps and went on to be an Assault Pilot. In April 2012, two weeks into his sixth deployment, Eric was critically injured in an operation in Morocco. He suffered major lower limb, lung, and ocular nerve damage. His injuries eventually resulted in amputations of both of his legs. Eric and his wife live in New Castle, PA with their six children. Retired Major Eric Burkett continues to serve his countrymen as a Director of Valor Retreat.
Treasurer, Valor Retreat
Don Jacobson is passionate about helping our men and women who have served. He is currently the Treasurer for VALOR.
Russell Tadych, a graduate of the Naval Academy, served his country as a Lieutenant. He now works as a board member of Valor Retreat.
Lt. Colonel, US Army
Dr. Steven Oluic is a retired U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officer whose career spanned over 27 years. His last assignment prior to retiring from active duty as a Lieutenant Colonel in 2010 was as the Associate Dean of Strategy and Policy at the U.S. Military Academy, West Point. Dr. Oluic served ten plus years overseas, in both combat and construction engineer battalions, including assignments and/or deployments to Bosnia, Germany, Iraq, Korea and Mauritania. He is the recipient of the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star Medal, seven Meritorious Service Medals, two Army Commendation Medals, the Joint Service Achievement Medal, three Army Achievement Medals and an Air Force Achievement medal.
VP-Business Development LBL/Shetler Printing & VALOR Retreat Board Member
Kim Breyley is the VP of Business Development for LBL/Shetler Printing. LBL/Shetler is a printing marketing firm which specializes in print, digital and content marketing. She serves as president of the Middlefield Area Chamber of Commerce, is on the Board of Directors for Family Pride of Northeast Ohio, serves on the Economic Development Committee in Middlefield, serves on the Community Advisory Board for IdeaStream Cleveland representing Geauga County, and also manages the Social Media and Website for the Village of Middlefield and the Middlefield Police Department.
